‘I’ll find a way’: Mnangagwa pledges US$2m in materials for Makandiwa church

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has pledged US$2 million worth of building materials towards the construction of a church project by United Family International Church founder Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.

Makandiwa announced the pledge during a church service in Chitungwiza, saying it followed a conversation with the President about the project.

According to Makandiwa, Mnangagwa told the church to begin construction and submit quotations for the required materials once procurement starts.

“Start the work, and once you start finding the materials that are needed, come to me, give me the quotations,” Makandiwa said, recounting the President’s words.

Makandiwa said Mnangagwa made the commitment in his personal capacity, adding that the President intended to use his networks to mobilise the funds.

“He’s not saying he has the money; he’s saying, ‘I will have my own ways. If I have to walk to and fro, knock at doors…’” Makandiwa said.

He said the President’s instruction was to procure building materials worth US$2 million.

Makandiwa also told congregants that he and his followers regularly pray for Mnangagwa and his family.
