ZAMBIA MUST CALL OUT THE POLITICS OF BITTERNESS AND FOREIGN INTERVENTION

Zambians must remain alert to a troubling political narrative emerging around Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and their allies at home and abroad

There seems to  increasingly be a wave focused on turning serious allegations into a sympathy campaign while inviting foreign political intervention in Zambia’s sovereign affairs.

A statement attributed to a U.S. Congressman named Gregory Meeks, published recently on the Mellieum TV Facebook page, deserves serious scrutiny—not applause.

Meeks has demanded that President Hakainde Hichilema release what he calls the “true results” of Zambia’s election and has urged Washington to intervene.

In the first place he has shown his complete ignorance on which institution in Zambia has the jurisdiction over election results.

But who elected Gregory Meeks to determine Zambia’s “true” election results?

Zambia is a sovereign democracy with its own Electoral Commission, courts, Constitution and laws.

Electoral disputes belong before Zambian institutions—not in the hands of foreign politicians.

More troubling is the attempt to portray Mundubile and Makebi Zulu simply as persecuted opposition politicians.

We should never forget or be blind to the fact that by Zambian law, the two and 16 others are facing serious treason charges.

The charges remain allegations to be tested in court. They must not be prejudged.

But neither should they be conveniently repackaged into a narrative of political victimhood.

Serious allegations require evidence, not sympathy campaigns.

If Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and their co-accused are innocent, let the courts establish it. If the State has evidence, let it be presented. That is how a constitutional democracy works.

What Zambia must reject is the attempt to internationalise domestic political disputes and enlist foreign politicians as shields against accountability.

President Hakainde Hichilema has won a second mandate.

The election is over. Zambia must move forward.

Our attention as a party and the nation is  now on creating more jobs, attracting more investment, increasing on agriculture productivity, mining, energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare and improving the lives of ordinary Zambians.

Political bitterness cannot be allowed to become more important than national stability.

To those seeking foreign intervention against Zambia’s institutions, the message should be clear:

Zambia is not Washington. Zambia belongs to Zambians.

Foreign politicians may express opinions, but they do not determine Zambia’s elections, courts or constitutional order.

And Zambians must never allow political ambition—whether at home or abroad—to undermine the peace and unity of their country.

The mandate has been given. The bitterness must end. The work of development must begin.

Zambia First. Peace First. Development First.

  1. This guy is delusional. His reasoning is very shallow.. Does he even understand anything about sovereign governance.

Which true results. what a stupid remark. Who told you the were other results than this. Are you crazy? Have some common sense man.

Are you giving a narrative that your preferred team won instead? Even after your government has congratulated the elected President you have the nerve of speaking stupidity. Get a decent education on matters of public interest before you make a utter fool of yourself.

Seems a little bit of public office has gone over his head and now he thinks he rules the whole world. How pathetic . Stay in your own small world buddy. Your arrogance and lack of knowledge is a serious let down.

When an ignorant person is trying to make sense out of nonsense it is irritating to an intelligent mind.

What exactly does he mean by publish the results? what a dump question. Go figure it out through enlightenment man.

Such ignorance is painful to educate. Log on to the internet and simply check. It has been clearly published with four more independent results supporting the report. Over two weeks ago.

Sometimes just taking time to think through matters sensibly is needed instead of making noise and barking about Washington intervention. Ridiculous and irritating nonsense. Who is this ignorant guy?
