LAVROV ACCUSES GERMANY OF DECLARING WAR ON RUSSIA

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accused Germany of moving toward a direct military confrontation. He said Berlin’s response to a drone incident at Leipzig Airport signals the beginning of a real war.

Germany officially blamed Russia for the attempted drone attack at Leipzig/Halle Airport on September 1. Investigators found an explosive-laden drone near a Ukrainian cargo aircraft. Two more drones were reportedly involved

Berlin ordered the closure of Russia’s consulate in Bonn and the Russian House cultural centre in Berlin. It also announced tighter controls on Russian nationals entering Germany.

Lavrov rejected the allegations. He said the drone was labelled Russian without proper investigation.

He also accused Chancellor Friedrich Merz of effectively declaring war on Russia. Merz has pledged to make Germany Europe’s leading military power again. Lavrov said those calls are now becoming reality.

He drew a comparison to the period before World War II. He said Germany is closing diplomatic missions just as it did before the last war. He warned that Nazi tendencies are resurfacing.

Russia says Germany wants war again. Germany says it is defending itself against hybrid attacks.

When the rhetoric of war becomes the reality of diplomacy, who is left to stop the escalation.
