RUBIO SAYS U.S. IS CLOSELY MONITORING HOUTHI ATTACKS ON SAUDI ARABIA

The United States says it is closely monitoring the situation after Houthi attacks from Yemen, which Washington says have caused significant damage in Saudi Arabia in recent days.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Houthis are, in many respects, “agents and intermediaries of Iran,” arguing that Tehran’s influence is clearly present behind at least some of the attacks.

«“The Houthis are, in many ways, agents and intermediaries of Iran. I think there is clearly the hand of Iran behind some of this. The United States has a very strong military and defense relationship with Saudi Arabia, and we are watching these developments very, very closely,” Rubio said.»

His remarks underscore Washington’s commitment to Saudi Arabia amid rising regional tensions and growing concerns that the Houthi attacks could widen the confrontation involving Iran, the United States and their respective regional partners.
