🟪 UKRAINIAN DRONE REPORTEDLY STRIKES GAZPROM PLANT DEEP INSIDE WESTERN SIBERIA

The Novy Urengoy Condensate Preparation Plant in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug has reportedly been struck by a long-range Ukrainian drone, triggering a fire at the facility.

Russian regional authorities acknowledged that falling drone debris caused a fire at an industrial site, while Ukrainian monitoring sources identified the location as the Novy Urengoy plant. Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point later posted a cryptic message asking followers to guess what had travelled more than 3,300 kilometers and successfully reached its target—an apparent reference to the drone’s possible flight route.

The facility lies more than 2,800 kilometers from Ukrainian territory in a straight line. The actual route flown may have been considerably longer, making this potentially one of Ukraine’s deepest strikes of the war.

Operated by Gazprom Processing, the plant handles unstable gas condensate extracted from major fields across the Nadym–Pur–Taz region. It produces stable and de-ethanized condensate, liquefied petroleum gases and other petroleum products before sending material onward through Russia’s wider processing network

Its design capacity is approximately 19.5 million tonnes of raw material annually, making it an important component of Russia’s enormous northern energy industry.

The extent of the damage and the exact section struck remain unclear. However, the distance is already strategically significant. Russia may now be forced to consider additional air defenses for energy infrastructure thousands of kilometers from Ukraine—systems that cannot simultaneously protect refineries, airfields and military facilities closer to the front.

Russia built its war economy around the assumption that its industrial heartland remained beyond Ukraine’s reach. That assumption is becoming increasingly difficult to defend.
