NETANYAHU: “THE MAIN TASK IS TO DEFEAT THE REGIME IN IRAN”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has placed Iran at the center of Israel’s strategic agenda, declaring that “the main task is to defeat the regime in Iran.”
Speaking from Mount Hermon on the eve of Rosh Hashanah, Netanyahu also highlighted what he described as an unprecedented level of Israeli control over a strategically important area extending from Mount Hermon toward the Yarmouk River and westward toward the Mediterranean.
“We control the entire area, from Mount Hermon to the Yarmouk, and from here to the Mediterranean,” Netanyahu said, presenting the situation as a major achievement of his government.
From the strategic mountain overlooking parts of southern Syria, Netanyahu stressed that Israel would not allow what he described as a “terrorist army” to establish itself near Israel’s borders.
He then turned to the broader regional confrontation, arguing that Israel’s military and political actions were aimed at reducing the threats facing the country over the long term.
But Iran emerged as the central focus of his remarks.
“The main task is to defeat the regime in Iran,” Netanyahu said, adding that Israel was “very close” to achieving that objective.
He also warned that Iran’s regional allies and partners would ultimately be affected, declaring that “the entire axis” would eventually fall.
Netanyahu’s remarks underscore the increasingly direct nature of Israel’s confrontation with Tehran and signal that weakening Iran’s regional influence remains a central objective of the Israeli government.
The statements come amid continuing tensions across the Middle East, with Iran, Israel and their respective allies remaining locked in a broader strategic confrontation.
Netanyahu’s message was clear: Iran remains at the center of Israel’s long-term security and military strategy.
