LAVROV WARNS: IF THE WEST ATTACKS RUSSIA, “THE WAR WILL BE VERY SHORT”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that any direct Western attack on Russia would trigger a fundamentally different and potentially very short war.

Lavrov pointed to what he described as a contradiction in Western rhetoric, saying Russia is simultaneously portrayed as being weakened by the Ukraine war while also being accused of preparing to attack Europe.

He reiterated President Vladimir Putin’s position that Russia has no intention of attacking anyone. However, Lavrov said that if Western claims about a future Russian attack actually reflect preparations for an attack on Russia, Moscow would respond accordingly

According to Lavrov, such a confrontation would become a “completely different and very short” war, underscoring the Kremlin’s warning that a direct Russia-NATO conflict could escalate far beyond the current war in Ukraine.
