KABWE PROTEST PLANNED OVER 2026 ELECTION RESULTS
A peaceful protest has been planned in Kabwe over 2026 General Election results, with the demonstration scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 09:00 hours at the Kabwe Civic Centre.
According to a letter dated September 6, 2026, addressed to the Officer-in-Charge of Kabwe Central Police, the organisers say the protest is being held on behalf of what they describe as the peaceful people of Kabwe.
The letter alleges that the elections were stolen from Tonse Alliance candidates, including Brian Mundubile, Patrick Chishala, Walinase Nyirongo, Victor Kolala and Wilson Pondamali, and raises concerns over the alleged blocking of the filing of election petitions.
The organisers say the three parliamentary candidates for Tonse Alliance, together with the organiser and members of the clergy, are expected to speak during the protest.
They have also assured police that the demonstration will be peaceful and stated that they are capable of providing their own security, while asking police to deploy a few officers.
The letter was received and stamped by Kabwe Central Police on September 10, 2026.
