SAUDI CROWN PRINCE URGED TRUMP TO STRIKE YEMEN’S ANSARULLAH -AXIOS
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly called U.S. President Donald Trump twice yesterday, urging him to launch strikes against Ansarullah (the Houthis) in Yemen, according to Axios.
Trump reportedly rejected the request, while U.S. officials said the administration currently has no plans for direct military action against Ansarullah.
The development comes amid growing concerns over control of key maritime chokepoints in the Middle East.
Following the U.S.–Iran war, Iran is described as having strengthened its control and influence over the Strait of Hormuz, while Ansarullah maintains significant influence over the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
Together, the two chokepoints connect the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, making them strategically vital routes for global energy supplies and international shipping.
If sustained, the situation would give Iran and Ansarullah significant leverage over two of the region’s most important maritime corridors.
