The Zambia Police has arrested and charged a man identified as Sobili Jackson for being in possession of offensive weapons following an incident in Kitwe’s kandabwe Compound.

Brief facts of the matter are that a Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) officer under Kandabwe was conducting patrols within Kandabwe Compound when he encountered Sobili Jackson allegedly conducting himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner, Rae Hamoonga, said the officer apprehended and searched him, during which he was allegedly found in possession of a pair of catapults, a knife and stones, which are being treated as offensive weapons.

Mr. Hamoonga, said the suspect was subsequently taken to Kitwe Central Police Station, where a formal report was made and a docket was opened.

The Zambia Police has since commended members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit and other community members who continue to work with the Police in identifying and preventing criminal activities.

The Service further warned individuals who carry weapons or other dangerous objects with the intention of threatening, intimidating or causing harm to others that such conduct will not be tolerated.
