CHIPANGALI Independent member of Parliament Vincent Mwale has pledged to work with President Hakainde Hichilema and support Government’s growth agenda, describing the programme as fundamental to Zambia’s economic development.
The former Patriotic Front MP, who also served as Cabinet minister in the Edgar Lungu administration, bounced back to Parliament after a five-year absence.
Mr Mwale said his decision to work with President Hichilema was driven by the need to prioritise national development and improve the welfare of Zambians, regardless of political affiliation.
He said Zambia needs leaders who could put the interests of the country above partisan politics and work together to address the challenges facing citizens.
“President Hichilema’s growth agenda presents an opportunity for Zambia to strengthen its economy, create employment opportunities and improve the delivery of essential services to communities,” Mr Mwale said.
He also said that as a representative of the people of Chipangali, he would continue engaging Government constructively and supporting programmes that have potential to bring tangible benefits to his constituents.
The law-maker also called for increased co-operation between elected representatives and the executive, saying effective collaboration is necessary to accelerate development at both national and constituency levels.
Mr Mwale said political differences should not stand in the way of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of ordinary Zambians.
“I’m also urging Government to ensure that development programmes reach rural communities, where many people continue to face challenges related to infrastructure, employment, health and other essential services,” he said.
Mr Mwale said his commitment to working with President Hichilema is not about abandoning his independence as a legislator, but about supporting initiatives that are in the best interests of the Zambian people.
He said Parliament and Government should continue working together to create an enabling environment for economic growth and sustainable development.
“Zambia could achieve meaningful progress if leaders and citizens worked together towards a common national vision. I’m also calling upon constituents to remain supportive of development initiatives and to participate actively in programmes aimed at improving livelihoods,” Mr Mwale said.-Zambia Daily Mail
