EASTERN UPND YOUTH LEADER TELLS CIVIL SERVANTS ACCUSED OF BACKING NRPUP TO RESIGN OR “FACE CONSEQUENCES”.

Eastern Province UPND Youth Chairperson Lyson Nyirenda has called on civil servants in the province who allegedly supported the opposition National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity NRPUP presidential candidate, Brian Mundubile, to resign or face consequences.
Speaking during a press briefing in Chipata, Mr. Nyirenda said the party is aware of some civil servants and council staff who were campaigning for the opposition leader to win the August 13, 2026 general election, stating that they will soon be removed from the system.
He said President Hakainde Hichilema cannot continue to work with people who do not support his vision and are taking sides with the opposition.
Mr. Nyirenda also cautioned political party cadres in Chipata, Petauke and Katete districts against forming political groupings to run markets and bus stations, warning that the UPND will soon move in to restore sanity in all bus stations and markets.
And commenting on concerns raised by Catholic Diocese of Chipata Bishop George Lungu over Zambia’s political environment, Mr. Nyirenda advised the Bishop to stay away from politics and concentrate on preaching the Gospel.
