U.S. Moves Toward Permanent Army Base in Poland Amid Tensions With Russia
The United States is making progress toward establishing a permanent U.S. Army base in Poland, President Donald Trump said, crediting Polish President Karol Nawrocki with advancing the initiative.
Trump said the location of the proposed base could be announced soon, describing the move as a major step in strengthening the U.S.-Polish alliance.
Poland has long sought a permanent U.S. military presence to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank amid security concerns over Russia. U.S. forces are currently deployed in Poland on a rotational basis.
The proposal comes as Washington and Warsaw continue discussions on expanding military cooperation, while NATO members strengthen defenses along the alliance’s eastern flank.
