ZIMBABWEAN MAN CLEARED AFTER ‘HUMAN BODY PARTS’ FOUND TO BE FAKE
A Botswana-based Zimbabwean man who was arrested over the alleged unlawful possession of suspected human body parts has been cleared after forensic examinations established that the exhibits were not human remains.
Shashe Mooke was arrested near Francistown on September 13 after police recovered objects that were initially suspected to be male human organs.
The Botswana Police Service (BPS) said extensive forensic pathological examinations and scientific analysis had conclusively established that the recovered exhibits were not human body parts.
Investigations have instead established that the objects were allegedly being used in a fraudulent scheme targeting unsuspecting members of the public.
According to police, Mooke allegedly presented the objects as human body parts while claiming to possess supernatural powers capable of removing misfortunes, curing spiritual afflictions and solving personal problems.
The development effectively clears the original suspicion that the exhibits were human remains, although police investigations into the alleged fraud are continuing.
