🔴 China 🇨🇳 Condemns Trump’s New Russia Sanctions Law, Warns of Retaliatory Measures
China has strongly criticized a new U.S. law signed by President Donald Trump aimed at increasing pressure on Russia 🇷🇺 and countries that continue to purchase Russian oil and gas.
🔸 Beijing denounced the measures as “unilateral” and “coercive” sanctions that it says lack a basis in international law, accusing Washington of applying “double standards” in its approach to international trade and sanctions.
The legislation would allow the United States to impose tariffs of up to 100% on third countries, potentially including major buyers of Russian hydrocarbons such as China 🇨🇳 and India 🇮🇳. It also targets Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” of vessels used to transport oil and circumvent Western sanctions.
🔸 Chinese authorities warned that Beijing would take “all necessary measures” to protect Chinese companies and defend the country’s commercial interests if the new U.S. measures affect its trade with Russia.
The dispute comes as Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to meet, adding another point of tension to already strained U.S.–China relations.
