Netanyahu to Avoid JFK Airport During New York Visit Amid ICC Arrest Warrant Remarks
According to Israeli media outlet i24NEWS, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to avoid landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York during his upcoming trip to attend the UN General Assembly.
The reported decision follows remarks by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who has said that, if given the opportunity, he would seek to enforce the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Netanyahu.
Instead, Netanyahu is reportedly expected to land at a military airport outside New York City. From there, he would travel directly to the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan before continuing to Washington, D.C., where he is scheduled to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The reported travel arrangements come amid continued international controversy surrounding the ICC’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the Gaza war. Israel rejects the ICC’s jurisdiction and the allegations against its leadership.
