TRUMP DELAYS PLANNED U.S. AIRSTRIKES ON HOUTHIS, NYT REPORTS
President Donald Trump has reportedly ordered the U.S. military to delay a series of heavy airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen, despite the operation having already been prepared, according to The New York Times.
The decision reportedly followed pressure from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who urged Trump to consider U.S. military intervention against the Houthis.
Trump subsequently instructed the U.S. Department of War to prepare an air campaign targeting Houthi positions. The operation was reportedly brought close to launch, with target lists approved and bombs loaded onto military aircraft
However, just as the strikes were ready to begin, Trump reportedly reversed course and ordered the operation postponed.
The reported decision marks another shift in Washington’s approach to the escalating confrontation involving the Houthis and Saudi Arabia.
