NRPUP Condemns Malicious Propaganda Targeting Hon. Ezra Tembo
It has come to our attention that an online page operating under the name “Lusaka Central Constituency” is circulating what we consider to be malicious and misleading content intended to malign, ridicule and incite public hatred against the President of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP), Hon. Ezra Tembo.
The NRPUP Secretariat wishes to categorically state that Hon. Ezra Tembo has, at no time, made the alleged degrading or disparaging remarks attributed to him against his elder brother and President, Hon. Brian Mundubile.
While political differences and disagreements may arise, we believe that such differences must be handled with dignity, restraint and respect. Regardless of our respective political pathways, we must never allow political disagreements to degenerate into personal attacks, hatred or deliberate attempts to destroy the reputation of fellow comrades.
The continued publication and circulation of fabricated statements, particularly those designed to create hostility between senior members of the party, is irresponsible and unacceptable.
The NRPUP Secretariat therefore calls upon those behind the page to immediately desist from publishing and circulating false and malicious content. Should this campaign continue, the party will have no option but to refer the matter to the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) and other relevant authorities for appropriate action, including efforts to establish those responsible for the material.
We further appeal to our members, supporters and the general public not to be misled by unverified social-media publications or engage in the circulation of inflammatory material.
Political disagreement is legitimate. Character assassination, fabrication and the deliberate creation of hatred among comrades are not.
Let us learn to disagree respectfully while preserving the dignity and unity of our political community.
