EFF leader Julius Malema made several strong statements during his Western Cape campaign speech in Cape Town. He said Cape Town belongs to South Africans and argued that people should not be treated as foreigners because of where they live or their background. The EFF held its Western Cape manifesto launch in Delft South on 20 September 2026.
Malema also attacked Helen Zille and businessman Johann Rupert, saying they are foreigners and that land such as Stellenbosch should not be seen as belonging to Rupert. These are Malema’s political statements, not established facts about their legal nationality or ownership.
He also criticised the DA and Patriotic Alliance (PA), accusing them of failing to stop gangsterism, while saying an EFF government would tackle the problem. His comments about voters and Palestine were also part of his political attack on those parties.
Malema was telling people that Cape Town is South Africa and should belong to all South Africans. He used strong words against Zille, Rupert, the DA and PA, and promised that the EFF would fight gangsterism and other problems in the Western Cape.
