IRAN WALKS OUT AS TRUMP LAYS OUT TWO OPTIONS
The Iranian delegation walked out of the UN General Assembly during President Donald Trump’s address, about 10 minutes into his speech. President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were reportedly already in New York but did not attend the session.
Trump used the speech to present what he described as two possible paths for Iran: reach a deal that would allow the country to rebuild and pursue a more prosperous future, or face continued U.S. pressure and military action aimed at preventing Iran from rebuilding its nuclear and military capabilities.
Trump said he believed a deal with Tehran was still possible, while warning that he would not allow political considerations or delays to prevent the United States from acting.
Cuba’s delegation also reportedly left the chamber later in the speech after Trump described Cuba as a failed state.
The walkouts came amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran following months of military strikes, sanctions and diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the confrontation.
