STATE HOUSE SAYS NO NEED FOR POST-ELECTION DIALOGUE WITHOUT FORMAL PROPOSALS

State House says President Hakainde Hichilema does not see the need to initiate the much talked about post-election dialogue if those calling for it have not submitted official proposals.
State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka says government has not received any form of formal proposal outlining who should participate in the dialogue, what issues should be addressed, or what form the proposed reconciliation should take.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Hamasaka says continued debate on dialogue and reconciliation through media statements and public commentary cannot resolve matters without a formal proposal.
He says those advocating for dialogue should take the lead by submitting their proposals to Government, so that the parties involved and the issues for discussion can be clearly identified.
Mr. Hamasaka added that Government remains unclear on who it is expected to engage with and the nature of the proposed talks, stressing that the President cannot initiate a process whose purpose, participants and terms have not been formally presented.
