Russian drones struck multiple areas across Kyiv on Wednesday, with explosions and thick smoke reported across the Ukrainian capital.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said two people were killed and 25 others were injured in the attack, with 17 of those wounded receiving treatment in hospitals.
The strikes damaged multiple sites across the city, including a nine-storey building, warehouses, a business center, a gas station and transport infrastructure. A historic market near Kyiv’s central railway station also caught fire.
Ukrainian officials said Russian drones continued attacking the capital into the daytime, with repeated waves of strikes reported across Kyiv.
The attack comes amid renewed Russian aerial assaults across Ukraine, with Ukrainian authorities warning that Russia has increasingly used faster, jet-powered drones that are more difficult to intercept.
