Is Mr Charles Chanda really rich as he claims?
Yes, he is.
No man has ever spoken from without.
He pronounced himself to be of 8 Billion (USD) net worth during nomination day at the ECZ headquarters in Lusaka.
Secondly, we all heard him saying he can pay the President his K52,000 salary every month.
Earlier, we all watched him on an interview saying he is not a job seeker. He claimed he can pay all Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament their monthly salaries with ease.
Definitely, a man who speaks this big doesn’t speak from without. He is rich.
In 2022, Mr Chanda said he would establish an oil refinery plant. What I do not know is whether the oil refinery plant is established or we wait for another 2022.
But one thing is clear — Mr Chanda is not a small man when it comes to money.
8 Billion USD is not Nshima money. If he says he has it, then he has it. Who are we to doubt?
And if he can pay the President, pay Cabinet, pay MPs — then clearly we are dealing with a different level of wealth.
So the question is not whether he is rich. He says he is rich. He speaks like a rich man. He pronounces billions like we pronounce hundreds.
The question is — what will he do with that richness for Zambia?
Because being rich is one thing. Building that oil refinery is another.
We are still waiting.
