Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye Plan Emergency Meeting of Military Chiefs
Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye have announced plans to hold an emergency meeting between their military chiefs to discuss ways of supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The decision was announced following a meeting between the foreign ministers of the three countries in New York. However, the statement did not specify when the military chiefs would meet or what form of military or security assistance could be provided to Saudi Arabia.
The planned meeting comes amid heightened security concerns in the region and follows the three countries’ commitment to collective defence under the agreement signed in Makkah on August 7, 2026.
A key provision of the agreement states that an armed attack against any one of the three signatories—Saudi Arabia, Türkiye or Pakistan—will be regarded as an attack against all three countries, establishing a framework for collective defence and mutual security support.
