Pezeshkian and Araghchi’s New York trip made Iran look weak and divided, MP says

A member of Iranian parliament’s national security committee criticized officials’ diplomacy during their recent visit to New York, calling it “undignified and unwise.”

Ali Khezrian said President Masoud Pezeshkian’s interviews and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s extended stay in the city had portrayed Iran as weak, divided and eager to negotiate with the United States.

“Pezeshkian’s interviews, which cast doubt on the firm policy of avenging the martyred supreme leader’s killers, and the foreign minister’s unusually long stay in New York together created an image of Iran as weak, divided among its decision-makers, and eager to negotiate with the United States,” he said.

He also said that the Strait of Hormuz is the “Stalingrad” of the war, where Iran will force US President Donald Trump’s “war machine” to surrender.

“The world will see how the Iranian nation, by decolonizing the waters from the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea, will force Trump’s war machine in the Strait of Hormuz to surrender,” the MP said.

He described the strait as a vital passage for the global economy and said its closure had brought Iran’s adversaries close to “suffocation.”
