By Doreen Chembe

Lusaka Mayor CHITAMBALA MWEWA has officially been sworn into office.

Mr. MWEWA took the oath of office before Chief Resident Magistrate NDHANDOSE CHABALA.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony today, Lusaka Town Clerk OLIVER MUUKA described the occasion as a solemn and historic moment for the city.

Mr. MUUKA said the ceremony was not merely symbolic, but a legal requirement under the Local Government Act Number 2 of 2019, read together with Article 260 of the Constitution.

He said public office is both a privilege and a responsibility, requiring leaders to protect and promote effective service delivery.

Mr. MUUKA urged Mr. MWEWA to serve the Zambian people with dedication and uphold the responsibilities that come with public office.
