HH HAS SET CLEAR FIVE-YEAR PATH – KATOMBI

United Party for National Development (UPND) Serenje Constituency Member of Parliament Bishop Friday Katombi (PhD) says President Hakainde Hichilema has set a clear development path for the nation over the next five years

In a media statement today, Dr Katombi said the presidential speech during the official opening of the First Session of the Fourteenth National Assembly has outlined an ambitious agenda for the country.

He noted that the Grow Zambia Agenda is anchored on inclusive growth and opportunity for every Zambian.

Dr Katombi advanced that the restoration of macroeconomic stability, the decline in inflation to 6.1 per cent and the strengthening of the Kwacha are evidence of sound economic management.

He said that the record maize harvest of 5.1 million metric tonnes demonstrates the government’s commitment to agriculture and food security.

Dr Katombi affirmed that the ambitious targets of 10 million tonnes of maize, 3 million tonnes of copper and 5 million tourist arrivals are achievable with unity of purpose.

He emphasised that the recruitment of more than 42,000 teachers and 18,000 health workers has improved access to essential social services.

Dr Katombi observed that the increase in the Constituency Development Fund from K1.6 million to K40 million per constituency has brought development closer to the people.

He stated that the constitutional reforms which have brought more women, youths and persons living with disabilities into Parliament are a significant step towards inclusive governance.

Dr Katombi added that the government’s focus on digitalisation, artificial intelligence and renewable energy will position Zambia competitively in the global economy.

He urged all citizens, traditional leaders and the private sector to support the Grow Zambia Agenda for the benefit of future generations.

Dr Katombi reaffirmed his commitment to working tirelessly for the people of Serenje and the nation at large in pursuit of national development.
