US hosts Miami talks with Ukraine and European allies to seek path toward ending war
U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are meeting Ukrainian and European officials in Miami on October 9–10 to discuss new proposals aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The talks are expected to cover possible limited ceasefires involving energy infrastructure and Black Sea grain shipments, security guarantees for Ukraine, and plans for the country’s postwar recovery.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Washington and its allies to increase pressure on Moscow through tougher sanctions, while seeking expanded access to Starlink services to help Ukraine counter Russian attacks.
The discussions come after a deadly wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine. However, no agreement to end the war has been announced, and major obstacles to a settlement remain.
