HOW I WAS DUMPED BY THE MAN I LOVED AND DISCOVERED THAT THE MAN WHO TRULY LOVED ME WAS ALREADY TAKEN
PART 1
Hi John, please share my story. It might help someone out there.
Between 2014 and 2016, there was a man I was very close to. I knew he loved me, although he never openly expressed his feelings. We were in the same class, and for the sake of this story, I will call him James.
After completing school in 2016, James went to Solwezi College of Education in 2018 to study Computer Science. From that time, we never met again.
Now, here is my story.
In 2019, I met another man, a Jehovah’s Witness who was very loving and caring. He was studying Power Electrical at Solwezi Trades. For the sake of this story, I will call him Tedy
Both James and Tedy completed their training in 2020, and surprisingly, they both proposed love to me around the same time.
I made my decision and chose Tedy because of his career prospects. I believed that once he secured a job, we would build a good future together. James pleaded with me to give him a chance, but I was not interested in dating a man who was training to become a teacher.
In 2022, Tedy secured a good, permanent job at a mine in Solwezi. Unlike some men who abandon their girlfriends after finding employment, our relationship became even stronger. I was involved in almost every decision he made, and he would consult me before doing anything important
Eventually, He started living on alone, and we began talking seriously about marriage. However, there were two things standing in our way: Tedy was a Jehovah’s Witness, while I was a Catholic.
He told me that I needed to join his congregation before we could get married. At first, this did not seem like a major problem to me, so he arranged for members of his church to conduct Bible studies with me.
As I came to learn, becoming a baptised Jehovah’s Witness was a process that required time and commitment. It was not something that could happen overnight.
Meanwhile, we continued making plans for our future. We focused on buying household items, and every month, sometimes even in the middle of the month, we would go shopping for things for the house and clothes. He took very good care of me.
I would visit his house almost every day. I cooked for him, washed his clothes and did other household chores. But what I enjoyed most was simply sitting with him and chatting. I loved the companionship we shared.
As time went by, our relationship became more intimate, and we started having sex regularly. We agreed that I should begin using family planning because we intended to have a wedding, but according to our plan, that could only happen after I was baptised into his church.
By 2024, however, I had waited for more than a year without seeing any real progress towards marriage. Tedy still treated me lovingly, and I could tell that he cared about me, but he had never formally introduced me to his family.
I began to grow impatient and decided to take matters into my own hands. I stopped taking my family planning pills, hoping that getting pregnant would move our relationship towards marriage.
Four months later, I discovered that I was pregnant.
I shared the news with Tedy. Although he seemed a little disappointed at first, he eventually accepted the news and quickly organised for his family members to come to our home.
At that moment, I believed things were finally moving in the direction I had always wanted. I thought that having a baby would bring us closer to marriage.
But little did I know that the biggest heartbreak of my life was still ahead of me.
