Seven U.S. Senators Challenge Trump’s Decision to Allow Russian Diesel Imports

Seven U.S. senators from both the Democratic and Republican parties have reportedly condemned President Donald Trump’s decision to authorize imports of Russian diesel, demanding that the measure be immediately reversed.

The senators argue that the decision violates a 2022 law passed by Congress aimed at preventing Russia from financing its war against Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also criticized the move, describing it as a gift to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Zelensky reportedly warned that the decision “will not bring peace and will not benefit the civilized world,” arguing that allowing Russian energy supplies into the U.S. market could undermine efforts to pressure Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.

The dispute highlights growing divisions in Washington over energy policy, sanctions against Russia and the broader strategy for ending the war in Ukraine.
