Turkey Responds to Macron Over S-400 Missile Defense Systems, Says Ankara Prefers to Keep Them
Turkey has reportedly responded to French President Emmanuel Macron’s remarks questioning when Ankara would return its Russian-made S-400 air defense systems to Russia.
The reported response took a sharp tone, telling Macron to focus on the unrest involving young people in France rather than Turkey’s defense policy.
Ankara also reportedly argued that its decision not to return the S-400 systems, despite pressure from NATO, was justified by what it described as shortcomings in the air defense systems protecting Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
“We prefer to keep the S-400s,” the reported response stated.
