PUTIN TO ATTEND APEC SUMMIT IN CHINA, LAVROV CONFIRMS

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced that President Vladimir Putin will attend next month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Shenzhen, China.

Lavrov said Putin is looking forward to meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom the Russian leader regards as his “colleague and friend.”

The expected meeting could provide another opportunity for Moscow and Beijing to strengthen their strategic partnership amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and growing competition with Western powers.

Russia and China have deepened their political, economic and diplomatic cooperation in recent years, with both governments emphasizing their commitment to a multipolar international order.

The summit is expected to draw attention to the relationship between the two leaders and its implications for global trade, regional security and international diplomacy.
