THIS IS HUGE: Michael Bloomberg just dropped about $80 million to help Democrats in the final weeks before the midterms. Elon Musk finally has some competition.

Read that again.

$80 million.

According to The New York Times, the former New York City mayor has sent roughly $80 million in September and October to help Democrats, making him one of the biggest known left-leaning donors of the entire midterm cycle. And his team says another $10 million for House races is on the way.

The timing couldn’t be better.

Elon Musk has poured hundreds of millions into helping Republicans keep Congress, and Trump’s super PAC has been flooding the airwaves. Now Bloomberg is stepping in to help Democrats keep pace on TV and digital ads across the country.

At least $50 million is going to House races, including $24 million to Everytown for Gun Safety, the group he co-founded, and $16 million to House Majority PAC. He’s also sending $2.5 million to a super PAC backing James Talarico in Texas, $8 million to help Democratic candidates for governor in battleground states, and $5 million to a group backing pro-environment candidates.

Bloomberg’s goal isn’t just a narrow win. His adviser said the difference between a 221-seat and 230-seat Democratic majority really matters.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Bloomberg played an instrumental role in 2018 and added: “The extraordinary support from Mayor Bloomberg will once again help Democrats flip the House.”
