US ORDERS DEPARTURE OF NON-ESSENTIAL EMBASSY STAFF FROM SAUDI ARABIA AMID HOUTHI ATTACKS

The United States State Department has ordered the departure of non-essential personnel and family members from its embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, amid growing security concerns linked to attacks by Yemen’s Iran-allied Houthi rebels.

The move comes against the backdrop of escalating regional tensions, with Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and raising concerns over the safety of diplomatic personnel.

The evacuation directive reflects Washington’s concerns about the security situation in the Kingdom as tensions threaten stability in the wider Middle East.

The Houthis, who control significant parts of Yemen, have previously launched missile and drone attacks against targets in Saudi Arabia.
