THIS IS HUGE: LeBron James responded to Trump calling him a disgrace with pure class, no insults and no apology, just one calm line
Donald Trump called LeBron James a “TOTAL DISGRACE.” LeBron answered with a shrug and a smile.
It started when Trump accused the NBA legend of disrespecting the country on Truth Social. The president claimed LeBron was practicing his shot and his golf swing while the national anthem played at Madison Square Garden, and said he should apologize to the people who died for the flag.
LeBron could have fired back. He has every platform in the world and a long history with Trump.
He didn’t.
When reporters finally asked how he felt, LeBron said, “Yeah, yeah. Slow news day at the office, you know? Slow news day in the office.”
That was the whole response.
According to The Daily Beast, this came on opening night of the NBA season, in LeBron’s debut for the Philadelphia 76ers. He scored 14 points as his team beat the newly crowned champion Knicks 106-100. He spent the night doing his job, and he spent the aftermath refusing to feed the fight.
Trump kept going anyway. At a rally in Iowa on Thursday, he brought LeBron up again and called it a “big scandal kind of a story.” According to NBC10, the crowd booed.
None of this is new. Trump and LeBron have been at odds since 2017, when LeBron said that going to the White House was a great honor until Trump showed up. In 2018, he said he would never sit across from Trump.
For nearly a decade, Trump has taken shots at him whenever he can. For nearly a decade, LeBron has stayed composed and let his record, his work, and his words do the talking.
Trump is 80 years old and spent his week raging about a basketball player’s warmups. LeBron is 41, won his game, and answered in seven words.
That is a complete class act.
