NEW YORK POST DROPS MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE PROVING ILHAN OMAR’S “BROTHER HUSBAND” TIES TO HER FAMILY
The New York Post just obtained a 1997 UK marriage certificate for Leila Nur Said Elmi, the woman who lived with Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in London and is believed to be Ilhan Omar’s sister. On that official document, Leila lists her father as Nur Said Elmi, a military officer from Somalia. Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, went by the exact same name and was a military commander under the Somali dictatorship. Multiple sources told the Post the man on the British certificate is Omar’s father. The names match. The military background matches. The family connections match.
Benny Johnson summed it up bluntly: “This lines up with Leila Nur Said also being Ilhan’s sister, which even further proves Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, who Ilhan married, is also her brother. Yikes.”
Omar legally married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, a British citizen, in 2009. They listed the same Minneapolis address on the marriage application. She stayed legally married to him until 2017. During those years she had a third child with Ahmed Hirsi, filed joint tax returns with Hirsi in 2014 and 2015, and only finalized the divorce paperwork after years of delay. Elmi later withdrew his marriage-based green card application after USCIS asked for more evidence about the marriage.
A Minneapolis Somali community figure told the Daily Mail years ago that Omar introduced Elmi to people as her brother from London who needed “papers.” He said no one knew about any wedding until the media later produced the marriage certificate. Elmi, who has described himself as a “dirty dandy” on social media and lived a flamboyant lifestyle in London, returned to the UK long before the divorce was finalized.
Omar has denied the allegations for years, calling them a right-wing conspiracy and “insane.” When asked this week on television whether she is related to her ex-husband, she did not say no. She answered, “Not to my knowledge.” Federal authorities raided her Washington, DC home earlier this month as part of an investigation into her immigration history. Court filings have referred to her as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.”
The certificate, the shared father name, the living arrangements, the tax filings, the community accounts, and the delayed divorce all point in the same direction. Omar continues to deny it. The documents keep stacking up.
