NAKACINDA FACES NEW JAIL SENTENCING

Lusaka Magistrate MBUYWANA SINVULA has adjourned the case involving former Patriotic Front faction Secretary-General RAPHAEL NAKACINDA to November 25, 2026.

Mr. NAKACINDA is accused of failing to comply with a lawful summons from the Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ.
The adjournment followed an application by his lawyer, NKULA BOTA, who told the court that his client is unwell and needs medical attention.

Mr. NAKACINDA is facing one count of failing to comply with a lawful summons.

The charge relates to allegations he made in November 2022 that the ruling United Party for National Development –UPND- had sent vehicles carrying pre-marked ballot papers to Lusangazi, Mkushi and Mwense districts during by-elections.

The ECZ allegedly summoned Mr. NAKACINDA to provide evidence to support his claims.

However, he is accused of failing to attend the meeting, leading to his arrest.

Magistrate SINVULA has warned that no further adjournments will be granted when the matter returns to court on November 25, 2026.
