PRESIDENT GIVEN KATUTA CONDEMNS OMISSION OF LUNGU FROM INDEPENDENCE PUBLICATION

By Staff Reporter

Rev. Dr. Given Katuta Mwelwa has condemned the omission of late Sixth Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu from the Zambia Daily Mail’s Independence Anniversary supplement marking Zambia’s 62nd Independence Anniversary.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Dr. Mwelwa said the omission raised concerns about fairness and the recognition of former national leaders, noting that Mr. Lungu served as President from 2015 to 2021

He has called on the newspaper’s management to explain the omission and take corrective action, stressing that Zambia’s history should be preserved without political bias.

“We cannot build a united Zambia by selectively remembering our history,” he said.

  1. You shud remember that that man led his life as president in a very bad way. So what are you trying to defend. Silence would be better for those who cherish the memories of the bad ones just as we keep quiet even if we remember the bad odeal zambians went thru under fake leadership.

Do say anything against me and my comment. It is not me who advised Lungu to be a bad leader

Now do not say anything against me and my comment. It is not me who advised Lungu to be a bad leader

  3. What is exactly your complaint?? His Family had decided he never wanted anything associated with Zambia and ShishiwaShiwa was a witness in the Supreme Court of Appeal. You can go and join them in SA to celebrate his time in the Presidency they stole because apparently he was not a Zambian.

  4. Why do these chaps read malice in everything?
Those pictures represent the office of the president. They were not intented to be inclusive of everyone who held office. ECL was after all not the best president. Individuals who sat in the office change. The office itself does not change. Zambia does not change. Every office holder will be viewed according to the good, or bad they did in office. ECL was a thief. He will be viewed as such. That is not the fault of Zambia Daily Mail. It is ECL’s fault.
