King Charles Sends Independence Day Greetings to Zambia

King Charles III has extended Independence Day greetings to President Hakainde Hichilema and the people of Zambia, reaffirming the strong partnership between the United Kingdom and Zambia.

In a message to the President, King Charles said he and his wife were sending their warmest congratulations to Zambia on the occasion of its Independence Day.

He said the partnership between the two nations was rooted in shared values and mutual respect, adding that their people-to-people and economic links remained strong and mutually beneficial.

King Charles also recalled the visit by the Duchess of Edinburgh to Zambia in September, saying she was touched by the warm welcome she received from the Zambian people.

He said the Commonwealthโ€™s diversity and the energy of its younger generations continued to inspire hope and progress.

King Charles said he looked forward to the opportunity for the two countries to come together at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in November to reaffirm their shared commitments and chart a course for the future.

On climate change, he said addressing its impacts remained an increasingly important global challenge.

He highlighted the two countriesโ€™ joint efforts, including the Green Growth Compact and the establishment of Zambiaโ€™s Climate Finance Unit.

King Charles also welcomed the delivery of ยฃ1.6 billion in United Kingdom investment under the Compact since 2021.

He concluded by wishing President Hichilema and all Zambians a peaceful and prosperous year ahead.
