Kim Yo Jong Warns Seoul as North Korea Prepares Border Loudspeaker Campaign

Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has issued fresh warnings to South Korea, saying new countermeasures are being placed on standby along the entire border as tensions escalate over military activities in the Demilitarized Zone.

Pyongyang says anti-South Korean propaganda loudspeakers will be ready for operation within days, following Kim’s inspection of border fortification sites alongside senior military official Pak Jong-chon.

Kim warned that North Korean forces would respond harshly if South Korean warning shots caused actual harm to North Korean territory or personnel. Pyongyang has also accused Seoul of provoking tensions through warning broadcasts and gunfire near the border.

South Korea maintains that its warning shots were defensive measures in response to North Korean troops crossing the Military Demarcation Line. Seoul has urged Pyongyang to stop actions that increase the risk of clashes and said it would consider a proportionate response.

The latest warning places renewed pressure on South Korean President Lee Jae Myung’s efforts to ease tensions, as both sides reinforce border positions and the threat of psychological warfare returns.
