FAZ VICE-PRESIDENT HAILS SUNZU’S MOVE INTO BUSINESS
FORMER Chipolopolo defender Stophila Sunzu is setting an example for footballers to build careers beyond the pitch following the opening of his SS13 Sports Café in Lusaka, says Football Association of Zambia vice-president Mutale Ngandu.
Ngandu says Sunzu’s investment demonstrates how footballers can use the discipline, teamwork and dedication developed during their playing careers to venture into entrepreneurship.
Speaking during the official opening of the facility, where he was guest of honour, Ngandu said Sunzu had also created a place where football fans could continue celebrating their passion for the game.
He said the sports café would provide a home for supporters to watch national team matches, interact and create lasting memories around Zambian football.
Ngandu recalled Sunzu’s contribution to Zambia’s historic 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumph, particularly his decisive penalty in the final against Ivory Coast, which helped secure the country’s first continental title.
He said Sunzu had maintained his bond with supporters by creating a space that brings the national teams closer to the communities that stand behind them.
Ngandu said the establishment demonstrated that a footballer’s legacy could extend beyond achievements on the pitch through investments that connect with and benefit the community.
He urged the management and staff to maintain the standards of the facility, while encouraging football fans to support the business and provide feedback to help improve its services.
SS13 Sports Café is owned by Sunzu, who was part of the Chipolopolo squad that won the 2012 AFCON title in Gabon.
