Mary Mubaiwa Acquitted Of Attempted Murder Of VP Chiwenga After 7-Year Trial
Mary Mubaiwa has been acquitted of attempting to kill Vice President Constantino Chiwenga by allegedly disconnecting his life support system while he was receiving treatment at a South African hospital.

Harare Regional Magistrate Musaiona Shortgame cleared Mubaiwa of the charge after ruling on the matter, which has been before the courts for nearly seven years.

Magistrate Cites Prejudice Suffered During Trial
According to The Herald, Magistrate Shortgame said in his ruling that Mubaiwa had endured mental, physical and financial prejudice during the lengthy proceedings.

The decision came after the State sought to postpone the trial to November 25, saying it needed more time to engage witnesses.

The prosecution’s application would have further delayed the case, which is now in its seventh year.

Life Support Allegations At Centre Of Case
Mubaiwa had been accused of attempting to end Chiwenga’s life by unplugging his life support system while he was hospitalised in South Africa.

The charge centred on the alleged incident during the Vice President’s medical treatment.
