Bolsonaro Family Pulls Off Masterclass Escape From Lula’s Regime With Media Decoys and Right-Wing Allies

Flávio Bolsonaro and his family just outsmarted Lula’s leftist machine. After losing the presidential runoff, the senator faced a Supreme Court order to hand over his passports amid investigations.

He vanished for more than a day while stories planted by allies flooded the media claiming he was already on a plane to the US or had landed there. That cloud of contradictory reports, from Brazilian outlets to major international ones, kept authorities and the press chasing ghosts.

Meanwhile the real move happened under the radar. Bolsonaro crossed into Argentina by land late Tuesday at the Tancredo Neves bridge with his wife and two daughters, using his Italian passport.

A private Gulfstream jet that had sat for nearly 24 hours at Puerto Iguazú airport—visible enough to become the story itself—then took off after midnight bound for Guayaquil, Ecuador, deliberately dodging Brazilian airspace. From there it continued to Miami, where the family landed Wednesday morning under US visas granted by the Trump administration.

Argentina’s Milei government confirmed the transit after initial denials that further muddied the waters, and senior aide Santiago Caputo openly mocked the global media for swallowing the conflicting versions.

Brazilian federal police watched the jet all day but had no jurisdiction once it left Brazil. Lula called the departure shameful. The Bolsonaros called it survival.

Right-wing governments in Buenos Aires and Washington simply cleared the path while Lula’s regime and its aligned press chased the wrong plane.-DPT
