prophet Angel has finally addressed the controversy surrounding Prophet Israel Ford and his public statements on polygamy, explaining his position on marriage, biblical interpretation and why he believes Christians should focus on correcting and restoring people rather than condemning them publicly.

Speaking during Missions Week at his church, Spirit Embassy, Prophet Angel addressed the issue while explaining how he approaches controversial subjects through biblical interpretation. He maintained that his church’s doctrine is one husband and one wife but argued that disagreements over religious teachings should be handled through a careful examination of Scripture rather than public attacks.

The controversy surrounding Prophet Israel Ford intensified after a video circulated showing an encounter between him and Prophet Angel. In the footage, Angel appeared to share a sensitive prophecy with Ford privately, removing the microphone during the exchange.

Ford subsequently expressed his appreciation for what Angel had told him, suggesting that the information was something only a few people knew. The encounter generated discussions about the relationship between the two prophets and the significance of the private prophecy.

Addressing the matter, Angel explained that his approach to teaching involves examining different biblical passages, considering their contexts and reconciling what they say before arriving at a conclusion.

He said Christians often expect preachers to give straightforward yes-or-no answers to controversial questions, but he believes theological issues sometimes require more detailed explanations.

Using polygamy as an example, Angel referred to biblical passages describing marriage in the Old Testament and contrasted them with the New Testament instruction that a bishop should be the husband of one wife.

He argued that anyone who wants to assess a church leader’s conduct should examine the relevant scriptural requirements for that office.

Angel also explained that Spirit Embassy’s doctrine remains one husband and one wife. However, he said he would not automatically condemn someone simply because that person had adopted a different position on the subject.

According to him, his conclusions are based on how he interprets Scripture and the doctrine he believes God has given his ministry to uphold.

He also challenged Christians who insist that polygamy should be condemned to explain their position through Scripture, arguing that religious discussions should involve a careful examination of biblical passages rather than relying solely on established church traditions.

During the teaching, Angel extended his argument to other controversial subjects, including masturbation, grace and the role of women in church leadership. He explained that he examines the relevant passages, their original language and their context before arriving at theological conclusions.

He used the issue of women preaching as an example, pointing out that some biblical passages appear to restrict women from teaching or exercising authority over men, while many churches permit women to preach.

His argument was that Christians and church leaders must explain how they reconcile such passages with their practices rather than selectively applying Scripture to support positions they already hold.

WHY PROPHET ANGEL SAYS CHRISTIANS SHOULD STOP CONDEMNING PEOPLE

One of the strongest parts of Angel’s response was his criticism of the way Christians publicly attack people they believe have sinned.

He argued that if Christians believe someone has done something wrong, they should approach the person, explain the relevant biblical passages and attempt to help them understand why their actions are considered wrong.

Angel maintained that publicly insulting someone or calling them demonic does not necessarily lead to repentance or change.

He also challenged what he described as selective outrage, arguing that some people condemn those whose actions become public while overlooking similar conduct by others who keep their private lives hidden.

Referring to Prophet Israel Ford, Angel said the fact that someone had openly expressed a controversial position should not automatically become a reason for Christians to subject that person to public humiliation.

He questioned why Christians sometimes appear more concerned about attacking a person than helping that person understand the position they believe is biblically correct.

Angel further argued that Christianity should place greater emphasis on forgiveness and restoration, warning that the way believers treat one another can push people away from the faith.

He recounted an example of a prominent Nigerian bishop who, according to his account, was accused by members of his own church of stealing something he had not stolen. Angel said the man eventually became a Muslim after the experience, using the story to illustrate the potential consequences of mistreating people within the church.

The account was presented by Angel as an example of how damaging internal conflicts and accusations can become.

IS PROPHET ANGEL SUPPORTING POLYGAMY?

Angel directly addressed this question after explaining his position.

He said he was not endorsing Prophet Israel Ford’s conduct but was also unwilling to join those publicly attacking him.

He explained that Spirit Embassy’s doctrine is one husband and one wife, adding that his interpretation of Scripture had led him to that conclusion for his ministry.

However, he maintained that other people should be approached through discussion and biblical instruction rather than automatically being labelled false prophets or condemned without an attempt to understand their position.

Angel also acknowledged that different churches interpret certain biblical passages differently. He argued that Christians should be prepared to explain their beliefs and listen to opposing arguments instead of assuming that every disagreement must be settled through public confrontation.

His position, therefore, was that maintaining a church’s doctrine and publicly humiliating someone who disagrees with it are two different things.

He said Christians who believe Prophet Israel Ford is wrong should identify the relevant Scriptures, explain their interpretation and, where appropriate, seek to help him.

THE BIGGER QUESTION

Prophet Angel’s response has brought another dimension to the debate surrounding Prophet Israel Ford. Beyond the disagreement over polygamy, his comments raise questions about biblical interpretation, church doctrine, accountability and the responsibility Christians have towards people they believe have gone astray.

His position is that Spirit Embassy will continue to uphold its one-man, one-wife doctrine, while he believes disagreements should be addressed through Scripture and constructive engagement rather than insults and public condemnation.

Whether Christians agree with his theological arguments or not, his central message was clear: disagreeing with someone’s conduct does not mean that person should automatically become a target for public humiliation.

What do you think about Prophet Angel’s approach to the controversy surrounding Prophet Israel Ford? Should Christians focus more on correcting people privately, or are there circumstances in which public criticism is necessary?
