WOW AFRICA | AFRICAN EXCELLENCE IN THE SKIES
South Africa has just given Africa something to be proud of!
The Milkor 380 is the largest drone developed and built on the African continent, and it is turning heads around the world.
With an 18.6-metre wingspan, a ceiling of about 9,000 metres (30,000 feet), a range of over 4,000 kilometres and endurance of 30 hours or more, this flying giant is built for surveillance, border and maritime patrol, reconnaissance and precision missions.
Built in Africa. Designed by African engineers. Competing with the world’s best.
Congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa and the people of South Africa on this remarkable milestone.
South Africans have every reason to be proud of the engineers, innovators and leadership putting their country on the global technology map.
A message to African leaders: this is what happens when a nation invests in its own people, skills, research and manufacturing. Africa has the talent, the resources and the youth.
What we need is bold investment, strong support for local engineers, and the courage to build our own future instead of depending on imports.
What can Africa do now? Back homegrown innovation, train young engineers, partner across borders, and celebrate our own achievements loudly.
The future is African, and it is already taking flight
