Zimbabwean civil servants will receive their 2026 annual bonuses through two separate payments in November and December
The National Joint Negotiating Council (NJNC) confirmed the payment arrangements in a statement released on Monday.
Under the agreement, eligible government employees will receive their bonuses based on 100% of their pensionable emoluments.
This calculation covers basic salaries, in-service allowances and administration allowances.
Furthermore, the Government will divide the payments equally across the two months.
Workers will receive 50% of their bonuses in November, followed by the remaining 50% in December.
How Much Will Civil Servants Receive?
The NJNC clarified that employees in Grades A to D qualify for bonuses calculated at 100% of their pensionable emoluments.
Consequently, the final amounts will depend on each employee’s qualifying earnings.
The payment arrangement means civil servants will receive half their annual bonus before December.
They will then receive the outstanding balance during the following month.
Meanwhile, Treasury has approved a separate financial benefit for retired government workers.
According to the NJNC, Government pensioners will receive a flat cushioning allowance in December.
However, the council did not disclose the amount of this allowance.
Mthuli Ncube Reaffirms Government’s Bonus Commitment
The latest announcement follows assurances from Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube on Saturday.
He had pledged that the Government would honour its annual bonus commitment to civil servants.
Ncube also highlighted the Government’s decision to extend annual bonuses to traditional chiefs.
He said authorities introduced these payments last year to recognise their contribution to communities.
The minister described the development as historic, marking the first such arrangement since Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980
“We have even started paying bonuses for our traditional chiefs, which has never happened since independence in 1980. We also recognise the good work that they do, and we were able to cover them as well. But civil servants’ bonuses, we are going to pay those,” he said.
The NJNC’s confirmation now provides civil servants with a clearer picture of their expected 2026 bonus payments.
