TRUMP TO DEMS AFTER MIDTERM ROUT: Let’s Talk Money — But Open Borders and Amnesty Get the Veto

President Trump is already drawing the line after Democrats flipped Congress in Tuesday’s midterms. In a phone call with CNBC, he said he can work with the new Democratic majorities on financial ideas that would be mutually beneficial — many more things than people understand.

He pointed to common ground with Bernie Sanders on trade and made clear he has no interest in dropping tariffs. On a proposed cap on credit card interest rates, he declined to comment, signaling he is open to deals on the economy but not giving away the store.

Democrats are projected to hold roughly 56 seats in the Senate. That means they can pass ordinary legislation with just a handful of Republican votes. What they cannot do is override a presidential veto. Trump has already reminded them of that power, and it remains the ultimate backstop against mass amnesty, open borders, and the rest of the progressive wish list.

The message is straightforward. Washington just changed hands, but the veto pen still works. Economic negotiations may be possible. Surrender on the issues that matter most is not.
