SANGWA FORMS MOVEMENT FOR NATIONAL RENEWAL (MNR)
STEPPING AWAY FROM LEGAL PRACTICE TO PURSUE NATIONAL RENEWAL
Lusaka, 12 October 2025
Fellow Zambians,
When I issued “A Call to National Reflection,” I posed ten questions of conscience – not to advance a political ambition, but to awaken a sense of national duty.
Those questions were meant to remind us that Zambia’s transformation cannot begin with leaders alone; it must begin with citizens who are ready to embrace discipline , accountability and unity under Article 43 of the Constitution.
Among those ten questions was Question Two – Sacrifice and Discipline, which asks:
“Are we prepared to make the hard sacrifices required for national renewal – to reject corruption in all its forms, to end the culture of wastage, and to embrace responsibility not only in leadership but also in family and community life?”
That question, simple yet searching, demands an answer not in words but in action.
I must lead by example. After much reflection and prayer, I have decided to step away from active legal practice at Simeza, Sangwa & Associates, the firm I co-founded and have served
faithfully for more than three decades.
This decision takes effect immediately.
Like I have said before, we cannot rebuild Zambia without sacrifice – and my decision to step away from the firm I founded is one such sacrifice: an offering of personal comfort for the greater purpose of national renewal.
My decision is guided by the conviction that Zambia’s rebirth requires a moral, civic, and institutional awakening.
As part of this National Renewal, I will dedicate my time to mobilising citizens across the country under the banner of the Movement for National Renewal (MNR) – a civic movement devoted to rebuilding our nation on the foundations of integrity, truth, and constitutional discipline, and laying the groundwork for citizens to participate meaningfully and responsibly in the democratic processes leading to the 2026 general election and beyond.
For legal and constitutional reasons, the MNR is, at this stage, a civic platform – not a political party.
Our first national goal is to build a movement of at least one million
(1,000,000) citizens committed to renewal – people ready to live and lead by the Constitution.
We aim to reach this milestone by 31 December 2025, marking a new chapter of civic readiness and shared responsibility. When that level of national organisation is achieved, the
citizens themselves will decide, through broad consultation, whether to transform this civic movement into a political organisation to give their ideals political expression.
To all those across Zambia who believe in this cause: you know each other better; therefore,do not wait for me to tell you what to do, Our communities nationwide are different, in their people, resources, and challenges, and it is the people within those communities, not outsiders, who are best placed to know how to organise themselves.
To give structure to this effort, reclaim your constitutional rights and duties by organising yourselves, beginning in your homes, communities, wards, districts, and provinces, into Renewal structures that will, in time, evolve into the political institutions of a new and accountable Zambia.
To my brother, partner and co-founder, Robert Simeza, SC, I extend my profound respect and gratitude for thirty-nine years of friendship and thirty-one years of partnership, bound
by shared values, mutual respect, and a common belief that the law is a noble calling in service of justice and the public good.
Together, we built Simeza, Sangwa & Associates on principles of integrity, courage, and professional excellence.
As Managing Partner, his wisdom, steady leadership, and unwavering commitment to these ideals continue to be a pillar of strength for the firm and a source of pride for the legal profession.
To my colleagues at Simeza, Sangwa & Associates, I extend my deepest gratitude for their loyalty, professionalism, and friendship.
Together, we have built not only a respected firm but also a culture of excellence, courage, and service to justice.
I am immensely proud of the work we have done, the principles we have upheld, and the generations of young lawyers we have mentored. The firm remains in capable hands, guided by the same values that defined our partnership from the beginning.
To my clients, past and present, I express my deepest appreciation for the trust and confidence you have placed in me and in Simeza, Sangwa & Associates over the years. It has been an honour to represent you and to stand with you in pursuit of justice.
I assure you that the firm remains in strong and capable hands, and that your interests will continue to be served with the same diligence, integrity, and professionalism that have defined our practice for more than three decades.
This is not a journey about power; it is a journey about purpose. I am stepping away from legal practice so that I may serve my country in a new way – by helping Zambians rediscover the link between citizenship and leadership, duty, and destiny.
I now invite every Zambian of goodwill to stand up and be counted.
Together, we can make Zambia honest again, disciplined again, and united again.
Together, We can renew Zambia – a just, united, and disciplined nation where every citizen works, serves and lives by the Constitution.

This is a breath of fresh air, Mr. President.
We need principled men in our politics. Let us bring back decency to the presidency. I am ready to start paying K1000 per month to your campaign. Please let us know the mode of payments. I will offer my services once I hear your vision in detail.
VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2026.
Every man is entitled to their opinion…
It is scary that the so called elite want to take advantage of the poor and ignorant…
Mr Sangwa in his summation does not detail how he hopes to steer this country into prosperity if given a chance…
Instead, he crafts his movement in words that he will easily get off the hook once he plunges this country into the deep end….
His ready answer would be – Didn’t I ask you to sacrifice and you agreed!!!….
This will be one of the cases he will easily Win in Court and Not the Interptof the 14 Days which we all Believed he was Right Until the Learned Judge’s said otherwise and he was Quick to Accept….
He knows that people are Desperate and they will cling to a Straw just to save their Lives… That is What SC has Done… He has Dangled a Straw by the Month of Victoria Falls and the Gullible Zambians will Hold on to it for Dear Life and they won’t see the Wave that will Hit them as they go Down the Zambezi River Gorges in the Abyss….
If he is serious about managing this country, let him give us a Real Plan by presenting to us an Alternative Budget…
This will Outline how he Hopes to run this country…
Where will the Revenues come from, how will they tax the Foreign Companies especially the Mines – many have lied on how they will tackle this one…
How will the ownership be cause they keep telling us that the minerals are ours…
How will Agricultural be funded – FISP, saff, etc…
Health and Drugs…
Education and the free amenities…
Foreign Policy….
How will the Debt Issue be tackled both local and foreign…
Climate Change….
Energy Sector….
We need a While Blue Print to Clearly show us what when why etc will be done with a Timeline…
These are the Things they are Demanding from the UPND which found this country in Deep S…t and is now barely back on it’s feet yet they keep saying there is nothing that has been Done…
Infact, we need these Blue Prints from Each and Every Party vying for the Top Office…
Only then, will some of us be convinced and not with these Sweet Words from ZIALE…
I rest my case for now….
Us are used to attending meeting and we come from the meeting with a K100 for attendance. Now you want to reverse our mind set from UNIP days to today.Thats what we have known being a party member means. You won’t see our vote you poverty stricken man.
Count me in! UPND is a failed project and going back to PF is a non starter. Mmembe is a dictator in waiting if you look at his role models. The other nashala neka parties no thanks. Team up with other progressive leaders. Remember this election requires 50 plus.
We don’t need Empty Words….
We need a proper Blue Print of what the Revenues and Expenditures will be like…
What are the Policies on Mining, Agriculture, Education, Health, Foreign, Finance etc…
Do not Sugar Coat Everything with the English from ZIALE …
Don’t take Advantage of the Gullible Zambians…
Hope he has made enough for retirement. Politics will drain his resources.
And we need our share from his retirement,if nothing, no vote I promise you.
This has been my Prayer. Respect of our democratic institutions is core to a nation’s Development.
Countries which have excelled are anchored on strong institutions. What I have seen in Hakainde’s Zambia is very disappointing..Talk of Government departments and Agencies like the Human Rights Commission, Judicial Complaints Commission,
The way the three arms of Government are working leaves much to be desired.
It’s Strong Institutions of governance which are the basis of any meaningful policy design and implementation in all sectors.
Nations fail due to weak Institutions of governance.
State Counsel John Sangwa, am on board. I will join your movement and will ensure it succeeds..It’s indeed a breath of fresh air!
Cont’
And we don’t want Imingalato at the Registrar of Societies. Let the Movement for National Renewal ( MNR) be registered, and as Counsel Sangwa is saying, it will start as a Civil Society, and later transform into a Political Party.
The person at the helm is an accomplished Lawyer. No one should play around with him at the Registrar of Societies Department.
And some advice to State Counsel John Sangwa, don’t allow characters like Sean Tembo, KBF, Saboi to be anywhere near the movement in the name of a united front. Let them be with their Tonse and UKA alliances.
At least Dolika Banda can add value to this movement..You can coopt her as a potential running mate.
MNR Kitwe , Ndola, Luanshya, Chililabombwe Chapters, and everywhere should be up and running whenever the President gives a go ahead. People are ready.
We are tired of UPND – PF politics. Vengeance, Daily Arrests, Constitutional Manipulations, Insulting Praise singers, Koswe , Zambia Watchdog Rogue Media….Useless Imingalato.
Let Zambia be renewed.
What a childish blind follower you’re; a Nkuku for sure. Listen to Sangwapo talk politics (not law) and you’ll have an idea what an empty head he is. The man is blank, a Chiluba wannabe. The problem with retirees like you, is that, eating Chicken (Nkuku) is all that matters. Sangwa failed to run a Nkuku business and all you’re hoping for is that he will be buying pne for you. Just work hard you old madala and stop hallucinating about the likes of Dolika and Sangwa
God bless and protect you Sangwa. Finally a movement funded by and answerable to Zambians and Not mining investors/infestors or some LGBTQ lobbyists and tribesmen
