Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Turn to Russia To Build A Unified Telecom Satellite
Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger have announced plans to develop their first jointly owned telecommunications satellite with the help of Russia.
The Sahel States are pushing push to expand digital connectivity and reduce reliance on Western infrastructure.
Officials from the three military-led governments say the satellite project will be built by local tech and with Russian technical support.
Once completed and launched, the satellite will improve internet access, mobile communications and data transmission across the three nations.
