Citizens First President Harry Kalaba has charged that fielding candidates in all constituencies across the country does not guarantee victory for a presidential candidate.
Mr. Kalaba said his party’s experience in the 2021 General Elections were he came out third demonstrates that contesting every available seat is not necessarily a winning strategy.
He noted that Citizens First fielded 126 parliamentary candidates out of the then 156 constituencies but failed to secure a single seat in the National Assembly, describing the approach as ineffective.
Mr. Kalaba justified his party’s decision not to field candidates in all 226 constituencies in this year’s elections, explaining that Citizens First has instead focused on areas where it believes its candidates have a strong chance of winning.
He expressed confidence in the party’s strategy and dismissed assertions that financial constraints prevented it from fielding candidates in all constituencies.
He said this when he Featured on Hot FM’s Hot Seat Radio program.
